Boston Celtics Honor BMC Patient and Advocate Who was Inspired by Curbside Care

During both of her pregnancies, Porshai Peters received care from our Curbside Care mobile unit, which is supported by the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation. Curbside Care brings critical and comprehensive care — like lactation support and screening for postpartum depression — straight to the doorstep of BMC mothers and newborns. Now, Porshai advocates for new moms in her community as a postpartum doula and certified lactation counselor. In recognition of her advocacy, Good Morning America and the Boston Celtics surprised her with tickets to game 1 of the NBA finals. Congratulations to the Boston Celtics for winning the 2024 NBA finals!

BMC Celebrates with Our Community for Juneteenth

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to ensure all enslaved people in the U.S. were freed. This year, BMC stands alongside our community at festivals throughout Boston to reflect on our history, honor those who struggled, and celebrate Black joy. Our fight to dismantle systemic racial inequities is deeply embedded into our work everyday through initiatives such as our Health Equity Accelerator.

BMC Continues to be a Leader in Sustainability and Opens Second Rooftop Farm

At BMC, we know that sustainability is healthcare which is why we invest in environmental initiatives that are critical to improving the health and wellbeing of our community. We’re excited to announce the launch of our new farm, built atop one of our buildings in the heart of the Newmarket district and made possible by generous philanthropic donors, joining our first farm at 750 Albany Street. Our rooftop farms strengthen local food systems,

reduce our carbon footprint, and increase green space. Our commitment to community farming and delivering fresh foods is just one of many reasons why BMC was named a “Top 25 Hospital in the Nation for Environmental Excellence” by Practice Greenhealth.

In Your Words

As a transgender person, this is one of the only times that I have felt "seen" by a medical provider. She really cares and is committed and that comes through loud and clear. I am very grateful, thankful, and relieved to have her on my care team!

“In Your Words” features patient comments from patient experience outreach surveys. We appreciate your time completing these surveys and for sharing your thoughts with us. The information gathered in these surveys is used to learn where we can improve, to continue to provide exceptional care to all.
