Researcher Spotlight

Name: Ruben Dries, PhD
Department: Department of Medicine, Sections of Hematology & Medical Oncology and Computational Biomedicine. Associate Member, Center for Regenerative Medicine (CReM)
Research Focus: I study how individual cancer cells make decisions by looking at how they communicate with other cells and their environment. By using spatial technologies and advanced 3D models, I aim to find new ways to improve cancer treatments and patients' quality of life.
Why BMC: BMC's population of patients has historically been excluded from opportunities in medicine and science, and the work that we are doing here can have a real impact on those communities. The diversity in genes and backgrounds at BMC can also help us better understand individual differences in diagnosis and prognosis, which can help us improve health outcomes for everyone.
