Researcher Spotlight

Name: Alyssa Tilhou, MD, PhD
Department: Family Medicine

Research Focus: I am trying to improve how we treat opioid use disorder by making it easier to stay in care. Not everyone wants to be in treatment, and it's really important to honor that, but for those who do want to be in care, there are still a lot of factors that  make it hard to benefit from the treatments that we have.

Why BMC: BMC has a really broad and rigorous training program when it comes to family medicine, and we are embedded in communities all across the city. I love the relationship we get to have with the people of Boston, with families in Boston. I was also really drawn by the innovativeness of the addiction medicine programs offered through BMC. Addiction affects every domain of a person's life, and family medicine is the most comprehensive way to meet people where they are and partner in addressing goals across the full spectrum of someone's life.
